hi all,

I've tried to implement ICE things into my platform after screwing up in oracle adf faces. so I tried making a simple thing, just an outputlabel with a backing bean like I thread normal JSF components. but it does not read the value out of the bean, I got the bean declared in the faces-config file so that's not an issue. is there anything special I should do?
pls help

Thx

ok I'll try installing eclipse and see if it's better...
I'm sick of netbeans anyway...
he do you know if eclipse has a "fix imports" function?
cause that's a really handy thing in netbeans dat it automaticaly puts the right imports in your bean

I am using Eclipse. Several of our developers use IntelliJ.
We are in the process of building support for Sun Studio Creator and Oracle JDeveloper.

Currently, we don't support NetBeans but, we are looking at supporting it in a post 1.0 release.

For simple applications I usually just use a basic text editor and build and deploy from the commandline.

indeed .. I use netbeans... but I don't know about the myfaces.. i think I kicked that lib out.
I am able to run the given tutorials and samples trough netbeans... it's only while creating a new project that i have probs.

do you have a proposition about a better IDE to work in like exadel or something?

kind regards

Your faces-config and web.xml look fine.

I have been able to build the project you sent me and I am getting the same error as you are. My tomcat log has abit more info about the actual error.

javax.faces.FacesException: Can't get stream for /simpleTest.jsp.jsp

The double .jsp extension is unusual and something I have not seen before.

I will continue to investigate.

Are you using MyFaces with NetBeans ?

there is only an empty dummy file in my tomcat/logs dir.

****

you checked the project. is every thing needed in there?
like correct input in faces config, jsp, and bean, are you sure that's it?

I'm sorry for being so difficult

The error message you are getting is not very helpful.

That error usually occurs when there is a problem parsing the page.
We are currently working on enhancing our error handling and logging processes.

Can you check your tomcat logs ?

There maybe more useful information there.

Please send it to me. Thanks.

Renaat,

I have attached a couple of files.

A new index.jsp and simpleTest.iface.
The new index page uses a jsp:forward to the simpleTest page.

The simpleTest.jspx is a modified copy of your original index.jsp. I moved the xml name space declarations to be inside the view tag.

Let me know if you have anymore problems. Thanks.

thx for the file you send me... I took a good look at it but I don't seem to get it right. I might use a different version of jsf or so... I'm working with netbeans that does not recognize some things... I added a zip file to it so that if you want you can take a look at it...

I would be very greatfull

Renaat,

I have attached a simple test application for you to look at. The page is very simple. It has an input text, an output text and a command button. The input and output texts are both bound to a backing bean. Please check out the simpleTest application and let me know if it works for you.
Otherwise, you will need to send me your source. Thanks.
