Hello,

Porlets on Liferay 5.2.3

I note that version 2.0.2 of the portletfacesbridge is included in the svn 3.0.0 tagged version. We have compiled the project (tag 3.0.0) and ran into NPE problems deploying our portlets. Reversion to portletfacesbridge 2.0.0 stopped those exceptions. The latest version on the official portletfacesbridge site is 2.0.1. I'm presuming that there was a specific reason to go to 2.0.2? Not sure if anyone is testing on older Liferay versions like 5.2.3...

Thanks.

More issues encountered with Liferay 5.2.3. The JQuery libraries appear to conflict and cause infinite loops in IE (8) crashing browser. Not sure whether that is due to reverting to portletfacesbridge 2.0.0 in order to get it running.

OK, javascript naming problem identified with Liferay 5.2.3/Icefaces 3.0.0

JQuery conflict between the portal and icefaces. The same variablename appears to cause this as both instances use jQuery.

We did a search and replace in our local copy of icefaces 3.0.0 and changed the variable to iceQuery. Compiled, currently testing, and things are looking much better.

Still with portletfacesbridge 2.0.0. No response to whether this is going to be a problem... I guess we are going to find out one way or the other...

As a reward for any information on this I happen to have won a lottery that I never applied for and I am willing to split the profits. Alternatively I have a new friend who happens to be a sultan who wants to put money into your account. Either way you will be a winner ;).

I opened a JIRA for the jQuery issue:

http://jira.icefaces.org/browse/ICE-7717

I did see some other minor issues when running on Liferay 5 but they were not related to the most recent PortletFaces Bridge (2.0.2). We'll create JIRAs and investigate as we narrow them down. Do you have stack traces or logging output related to the issues you are seeing?

When we change to portletfacesbridge 2.0.2 (or 2.0.1) we get the attached exceptions (refer attached file). Reverting to 2.0.0 stops the exception being thrown.

We are still to get the rich text area to work (still debugging) but all other issues have been resolved by:

  • Reverting portletfacesbridge to 2.0.0
  • Search and replace jQuery variable name to iceQuery

We are keeping our local 3.0.0 updated with changes made in your SVN each day.

I had captured that in this JIRA a couple of days ago:

    http://jira.icefaces.org/browse/ICE-7718

We're code frozen for release so as soon as the repository thaws, I can add this in and you should be able to pick it up.

Thanks Deryk. That's great. The update is otherwise looking very good.

Bleeding on the edge of 3.0.1!

By the time it has passed your test suite and then made it through our test suite it shouldn't be too shabby. Happy to contribute back what we can to enhance for others.
