When I try to create a portlet for liferay from scratch without changing anything I get the following stack trace when the portlet actually runs in the browser. Any help with this error would be appreciated.

I got the deploy working, but only when using the liferay sdk build all, otherwise a thread exception of some sort is thrown. The two issues might even be related but who knows, any ideas on what I should look at to solve this redeploy via the server interface in eclipse would be much appreciated.

-Edit: to make this clear, I started from a regular jsf portlet built it up from their and used the sdk, no auto generation really was used other then making a jsf 2.0 portlet to start from with the liferay sdk and the nightly build of liferay 6.1(which is labeled 6.2 atm) and the nightly build of eclipse liferay ide as their is a current filter error on Liferay's part in the current 6.1 release that is fixed in the nightly.

Re: Liferay 6.1 + icefaces 3.0 and ace components plugin for eclipse 3.7(indigo) + liferayide 1.5 plgin

(I'm shortening up the subject only because JForum is complaining that it's too long)

Looks like it might not be finding or loading the icefaces.jar for some reason. The FileEntryPhaseListener is part of icefaces-ace.jar but the EnvUtils class is in icefaces.jar.

Can you confirm that both jars are available to the running app?

Are you also able to build/deploy/run the samples/showcase/showcase-portlet example provided in the ICEfaces distribution in Liferay 6.1 to confirm that the basic enviroment is working?

If that all works then we'd need to take a closer look at how the plugins are working and what they are including during deployment.
