My employer is a large enterprise with several thousand handheld devices running about 20 different applications both standalone and connected. These are at 800 facilities in North America.

We have a Mobile Device Management system where we can control application deployment by facility and even down to the individual device. We like to be able to control rollouts in that manner.

My question is:
Is it possible to deploy an ICEmobile application as a standalone package that we could deploy as we wish, or does it need to be served via a Java server ?

The ICEmobile container can be installed locally on the user's device. However, both the JSF and JSP versions of ICEmobile components do need to be served from a web application, as the component rendering of both JSF and JSP, as Java EE frameworks, are server-based.

We do offer another variant of the native mobile component integration, called BridgeIt, that is targeted to HTML5 web applications, and this does not have the same restrictions as the JSF and JSP components. BridgeIt is a JavaScript API that can be integrated with any web page, whether that page is generated from a web server or is a static asset contained locally in a mobile app. Some of the BridgeIt functions do currently require a server upload endpoint, but removing this limitation is on our road map.You can find more information about BridgeIt at bridgeit.mobi.

Thanks,
Philip

Currently it would be a challenge with some of the components, but not others. It really depends on how you'd like to use the frameworks and what components you needed.

Thanks,
Philip
