Hello,

1. When will you provide integration for JSC 2?

Initial project-level support for Sun Studio Creator 2 (final release) should be available in the next week or so. We're just fixing up a few small issues introduced in the final release version. When it's available it will be posted to the ICEfaces Tools Support KnowlegeBase (http://support.icesoft.com/jive/category.jspa?categoryID=46), and also an announcement will be made to this forum.

2. Is version 0.3 alpha free for use?

Yes, ICEfaces Alpha v0.3 is completely free for both development and deployment. We will be providing more details around the v1.0 product release licensing soon, but we will continue to offer a free license version in the future as well.

3. Will JSC integration be free for use?

Yes, the ICEfaces Sun Studio Creator 2 tool integration will be free for use as well.

Thank-you for your interest in ICEfaces.

Regards,
Ken

Unfortunately, the Java Studio Creator 2 final release introduced several changes over the Early Access release that have prevented us from completing the ICEfaces tool integration for it as expected.

At this time, we are targeting Java Studio Creator 2 support in-line with the ICEfaces Beta release, currently targeted for late March.

Note that we do support Eclipse, JDeveloper, and IBM RAD at this time. Hopefully you can use one of these tools with ICEfaces until we are able to complete the Java Studio Creator 2 integration.

Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Regards,
Ken

Creator 2 support will be included in the ICEfaces Community Edition, so it is free for anyone to use.

All ICEfaces components are available for use in C2, but design-time support will not be available until the 1.0 release, so yes I think you are correct.

Portlet integration has not been completed, and is not currently on the roadmap for 1.0. Customer demand could accelerate our plans for portlet support.

Hi
Thank you for fast reply.
does it means paied customers ?

so , we can use icesoft jsf components in early april in creator studi design time?
although i understand that some components design time is not available in April version / am i correct ?

Yes, there is. Creator 2 integration will be included in the Beta release scheduled for early April. Full run-time, and design-time support will be included. Design-time support for the ICEfaces components is not complete and will not ship until the 1.0 release in May. Also, the Sun custom components do not currently work with ICEfaces.

Portlet integration has not been completed, and is not currently on the roadmap for 1.0. Customer demand could accelerate our plans for portlet support.

Hello sir,

You said Creator2 supports ICEFaces Component, I am trying to integrate a dataTable component of Icefaces but its not working properly.

My problem is that this component modify reference of taglibs. In my JSP page i have written code like below:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<jsp:root version="1.2" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" xmlns:ui="http://www.sun.com/web/ui"
xmlns:t="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" xmlns:ice="http://www.icesoft.com/icefaces/component">
---------
--------
--------
---------
</jsp:root>

but due to icefaces component this code is changed at runtime like below

<jsp:root xmlns:icefaces="http://www.icesoft.com/icefaces" xmlns:jsp="jsp" version="1.2" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" xmlns:ui="http://www.sun.com/web/ui" xmlns:t="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" xmlns:ice="http://www.icesoft.com/icefaces/component">

Its giving me Exception, I am sending stack trace

Could you install the plug-in provided.
unzip icefaces-creator2-v1.0.0.beta.zip

com.icesoft.ide.creator2.project.ICEfacesLibraryPlugin.nbm

From Project File View, click on ICEfaces Integration ...

It will modify the web.xml. This should be able to work properly.

If the problem persist, please let me know.

It would be nice if you list the components version that you intend to use.

Hi,
When I create a JSF project the ICEFaces Integration option is not accesible. (it is displayed, but inactive) What possible reasons could there be for it?

Not sure exactly, what you mean by integration not accessible.

Once you install the plugin in Creator 2.

#1 a context menu (available only in File view), you could use convert existing project

#2 when you create a project, a preconfigured project is avaliable.

please elaborate more about situation in here.

Yeah, thanks for your help. It proved to be in fact very useful. The problem was - I tried to use ICEFace Integration from the Projects view, not from the File view. Once again, very grateful:)
