Full-time Positions
Engineering Services: Java EE Application Developer
In this role you will bring your Java EE and ICEfaces skills to bear in customer-facing consulting work. You will engage in everything from training to full solutions development, with a strong focus on ICEfaces related aspects of development. You will be exposed to a wide range of Java development technologies used by our customers, and will need to be confident, agile and knowledgeable during face to face engagements. Broad in-depth experience with Java EE technologies, and excellent communication skills are a must for this position.
Key logistical requirements for this role include:
- Canadian or US citizenship so that you can perform consulting work in the US and Canada under the NAFTA rules.
- Undergraduate University Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline.
- Willingness to travel (mostly to the US). Travel requirements for this position will be around 30-40%
- Ability and willingness to telecommute with Calgary-based head office. Preference will be given to applicants based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Houston, Texas, USA.
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.
- Confidence and agile thinking with respect to varying customer-specific development environments and technologies.
- Strong Java EE skills with a broad knowledge of technologies from persistence layer to presentation layer.
- Extensive experience with presentation layer technologies: Direct experience with JSF, ICEfaces and Ajax is preferred.
- Experience with middleware technologies like Struts, Spring, Hibernate, Seam.
- Experience with web application technologies including DHTML and CSS.
- Experience with a variety of Java application servers including JBoss, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, Oracle, GlassFish etc..
- Experience with Java IDEs including NetBeans, Eclipse, JDeveloper, OC4J, RAD.

Web Designer & CSS Expert
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the leading-edge of AJAX and rich web application development technologies. The successful candidate will provide contemporary, compelling user-interface designs that will be used by thousands of developers using ICEsoft's products.
Responsibilities include:
- Create and modify web graphics, navigation, text and page layouts for existing web sites as required.
- Work collaboratively with Product Development staff to produce compelling user-interface designs.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing staff to produce user-centered web design solutions.
- Other duties, including assisting with the production of related printed and audio-visual communication materials.
- Analyze business requirements and quickly create wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, effective navigation layouts and standards-compliant user interfaces that meet brand, business, and usability and accessibility goals.
- Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in graphic design with a web specialty.
- Minimum of two years experience supported by sample web sites demonstrating expertise in graphics and UI design.
- In-depth knowledge of software packages including Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver.
- Advanced knowledge of browsers, and the ability to design for cross-browser functionality, social media & mobile devices.
- Advanced proficiency with HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (.CSS) is essential.
- Experience with JavaScript would be beneficial.
- Self-motivated learner with an ability and commitment to learn new technologies.
- The ability to work simultaneously on a wide range of projects.
- Production orientation with a strong work ethic and detail orientation.
- Strong critical thinking and trouble-shooting skills.
- Must be a team player and self-starter and have a good command of the English language both written and verbal.

Contract Positions
Engineering Services: Java EE Application Developer
If you are an independent contractor with experience in Java EE application development and ICEfaces give us a call, we may have work for you! ICEsoft regularly receives customer requests for engineering services and consulting capabilities. Sometimes the work can be handled remotely while other customers prefer to have resources embedded on-site as members of their design team. As opportunities require, we often turn to local contracting resources to assist in the fulfillment of these services engagements.
Key requirements for this role include:
- Strong Java EE skills with a broad knowledge of technologies from persistence layer to presentation layer.
- Extensive experience with presentation layer technologies: Direct experience with JSF, ICEfaces and Ajax is preferred.
- Experience with middleware technologies like Struts, Spring, Hibernate, Seam as well as experience with web application technologies including DHTML and CSS.
- Experience with a variety of Java application servers including JBoss, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, Oracle, GlassFish, etc.
- Portal Experience with Liferay, WebSphere Portal or WebLogic Portal is desirable.
- Experience with Java IDEs including NetBeans, Eclipse, JDeveloper, OC4J, RAD
- Registrants must have excellent written and oral communication skills and a proven ability to interact with customers with time critical deliverables.
