The ICEfaces EE 1.0 Alpha-2 release is now available for download at:
Because the architecture for ICEfaces clustered deployments had to be refactored, a decision was taken to do a second Alpha release prior to going to Beta. This refactoring involves the use of Java Messaging Service (JMS), and impacts the deployment of both the Asynchronous HTTP Server, and the ICEfaces application itself. The introduction of JMS into the EE deployment architecture means that EE deployments now require a compliant J2EE server with JMS support.
As for the ICEfaces framework and component suite, the EE 1.0 Alpha-2 release is in sync with the current ICEfaces CE 1.0 release, so there is no difference in using either version for development.
The release plan for ICEfaces 1.0 includes a Beta in mid-June. This release will include the clustered rendering implementation, and a complete source-code example that illustrates the EE deployment features. The final EE 1.0 release is anticipated for late-June/early-July. We are expecting to do a CE 1.0.1 release at the same time to ensure CE and EE frameworks are in sync.
Let us know your thoughts on the modified deployment architecture for the async server.
