Best Wishes from all of us at ICEsoft

Its has been a terrific year for ICEfaces thanks in large part to our great community. Thank you all for helping ICEfaces realize its tremendous potential!

As we leave 2007, we do so having acquired a developer base of over 25,000 developers world-wide. We have seen over 450,000 product downloads with thousands of applications now in production. Your applications range from the very small 1-2 user styled application to 1,000’s of users interacting with the kinds of complex back end systems you find with insurance companies and banks.

In September of this year we also took our first steps into the mobile Ajax arena. ICEfaces is being actively deployed in mobile applications using both Opera and Safari browsers on I-phone and other mobile platforms. Check out the cool demo’s at http:///www.icefaces.org/main/demos/mobile-ajax.iface if you haven’t already seen them.

The development team has been kept pretty busy most of the year responding to your requests for new features and tool integrations. The community was the beneficiary of nearly 50 product releases (core and tool bundles) over the course of the year. ICEfaces now integrates with 6 open source and commercial IDEs and provides design time integration with Eclipse 3.3, MyEclipse and NetBeans. Throughout the year we added integration with JBoss Seam, Spring WebFlow, JSR 168 compliance, Liferay, Tomohawk, Glassfish, Grizzly and JSF 1.2.

As we near the end of the year, I like to thank our very valuable technology partners, JBoss / Redhat, Genuitec (MyEclipse), BEA, and Liferay. All of these partners put in the hours to help facilitate a deep level of integration between our respective products, and all of whom now ship ICEfaces co-bundled with their own code. I would like to pass along my appreciation to the teams at Sun without whom our integrations with NetBeans, Glassfish, and Grizzly would not have been possible.

With all these deliverables under their belt, a large number of ICEsoft staff are scheduled to take a well deserved break over the next couple of weeks. We will still be supplying commercial and forum support, but if the forum responses are a little slower than usual at least you know why.

So what’s on tap for next year? Obviously our first order of business will be to get 1.7 released to production. You can also expect more tutorials, more training materials and more components to be on the way. Then it will be onwards to our 2.0 release. You will have to stay tuned for the rest of it.

Thanks for all your contributions, suggestions and assists throughout the year, and best wishes for a terrific 2008.
