James,

FYI. I've added this feature request for icons in panelTab labels to the ICEfaces roadmap for consideration in future releases.

Thanks for your input!

Hi,

We will be adding an asynchronous file-upload component in a future release, probably the next release (v1.0.1) around the end of June.

This component will support updating a progress bar or other status indicator while the data is being uploaded.

Thanks for the request.

Regards,
Ken
Yee,

Sorry this took so long, I've posted the ICEfaces Direct-to-DOM renderers for use with the Apache MyFaces Tomahawk components on the ICEfaces Knowledge Base here: http://support.icesoft.com/jive/entry.jspa?entryID=541&categoryID=58

These haven't been tested with the latest releases of ICEfaces or MyFaces/Tomahawk components, so you may need to tweak them a bit (source-code included).

Ken
I'm pleased to announce that the ICEfaces™ NetBeans v5.0 Integration bundle is now available for download from the <a href="http://support.icesoft.com/jive/entry.jspa?entryID=531&categoryID=55">ICEfaces Knowledge Base</a>.

Note that this NetBeans tool integration bundle was not available at the time of the ICEfaces Community Edition v1.0.0 release and is not included in the ICEfaces Community Edition bundle.

Just a note to let you know that the ICEfaces Community Edition v1.0.0 release includes support for the MyFaces Core v1.1.2.

Ken
Hello,

Yes, it appears that the example snippets in the ICEfaces Component Suite overview documentation hasn't been updated to reflect the final v1.0 component attributes. This will be corrected in the next release.

Please refer to the taglib (TLD) documentation for the correct list of component attributes. They are located in the "...\ICEfaces-Community-1.0.0\docs\tld" directory.

Sorry about the confusion this has caused, and thanks for reporting it.

Regards,
Ken
Justin,

No concrete plans at this time, but I'll add it our roadmap based on your request.

Do you have an idea of how you'd like to see it implemented? How would the user go about selecting the date and the time? Do you know of an example user-interface implementation that you think does it well?

All feedback is appreciated!

Regards,
Ken
Marten,

In case you missed it, the ICEfaces Community Edition v1.0 release is available for free download now. This version includes the revised Component Showcase demo that has the expanding dataTable example.

You can download ICEfaces <a href="http://www.icesoft.com/downloads/index.php">here</a>.

Yee,

I see three options here:

You could possibly adopt ICEfaces for specific views/pages in your application and leave the rest as Tomahawk components. This can be done by configuring the ICEfaces pages using a separate URL/port from the rest of the JSF application (essentially two-webapps, one for plain Tomahawk and another for ICEfaces) that would exchange state on the server.

You could adopt ICEfaces completely and replace/port all of your pages to ICEfaces Component Suite Components. This may not be as difficult as it sounds as the ICEfaces JSF standard-extended components are very similar to the MyFaces ones and would be easy to port. The custom components might be a little more difficult, but the advantage is that your entire application would benefit from ICEfaces and support incremental ui updates, server-initiated updates, etc.

We could make our original Tomahawk ICEfaces Direct-to-DOM renderers available to you and you could use those together with the ICEfaces Component Suite Components. There may be Tomahawk components that you are using that we haven't developed renderers for, and there may be some that don't work correctly with ICEfaces v1.0 as we haven't kept them current with the latest release, although any issues would likely be minor.

Ken
Callum,

One of the key features of ICEfaces is the asynchronous server-initiated updates without resorting to polling. If your application has specific update requirements there is a variety of GroupAsyncRenderer implementations available (On demand, Interval, Delayed) that might align with your requirements. See "GroupAsyncRenderer Implementations" on pg. 36 of the ICEfaces Community Edition Developer's Guide for details, or click <a href="http://www.icesoft.com/developer_guides/icefaces/htmlguide/devguide/advanced_topics5.html#1058427">here</a> for the online version.

Can you expand in detail the reasons for your reluctance to use server-initiated rendering?
