Hello,

Have you resolved your issue?

Ken
My reluctance to use server initiated rendering stems from a (possibly mistaken?) understanding that the technique relies on using an 'always open' HTTP request and a corresponding extra server port per user. That would probably be an unacceptable design requirement in this case.

Can you confirm that my understanding is correct?

Regardless of the legitimacy of my concern, can you please indicate a solution that does not involve server initiated rendering? I would like to have the option and be in control of the decision to go with it or not.

Many thanks,
Callum.
I would like to know how to use ICEfaces with client initated page updates. I wish to avoid server intitiated for various reasons.

Can anyone describe a good solution.

Kind regards,
Callum.
Looks like it's the same problem as mentioned in another thread,

Hi, I'm a coworker of renaat and I have a few questions about the simpleTest app.

1. Why is xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
xmlns:ice="http://www.icesoft.com/icefaces/component" aded to the form tag?

2. Shouldn't partialSubmit="true" be added instead to get it all working?
We are using Sun's Studio Creator and I installed your icefaces tools support in Creator and was able to launch the icefaces components demo app from Creator. Then I created a JSF app in Creator and added icefaces support via the context menu you guys added to Creator. I created a table component via the Creator Component Pallet and attempted to run the webapp. The app came up in the browser but the table component did look right and didn't behave correctly.

Now to my question: you support Sun's RI of JSF and MyFaces which is nice but is there any chance you could support Sun's Rave JSF components (which is what Studio Creator uses)?

ICEFaces is an amazing product, by the way, and we will definately purchase the Enterprise ICEFaces when it becomes available. If you cannot support Sun's Rave components we will most likely use MyFaces but I'll take some flack for changing our webapp's appearance. I know ICEFaces uses style sheets for its look but Rave's table component has a lot of interesting behavior that would be missed if we switched to MyFaces.
Hi,

I am evaluating ICEFaces and am currently using the community edition.

I have created a small test form with an inputfield, outputfield and a button. When I give a query in the input field and click on the search button the outputfield is correctly updated. However when I use the enter key instead of clicking on the button I get a session expired and than a connection lost.

What is causing this problem and how can I solve this?

Regards,
Patrick
I have a simple login page and when I click on submit I get this exception. I'm using tomcat 5.5. The source code of the login page is attached at the end of the exception. I'm using the plugin for eclipse provided by ICESoft. So I believe it has configrued the web.xml properly.

Hi Bill,

We tested all sample apps under Weblogic 8.1 SP4, and had same problem as you got, only if deploy war files through Weblogic web console.

But when we set deployment parameter stage=true (in config.xml), and copy war files into it's autodeploy folder directly (***/bea/user_projects/domains/****/applications/), the application works without any additional change.

I would suggest you might try the direct deploy method first, would you please let us know if that make any difference.
I have an existing JSF/Facelets application which I want to integrate ICEfaces into. I followed the documentation, adding the necessary jar required by ICEFaces. I updated both the web.xml and faces-config.xml per the documentation. When I startup the application and launch the default page, I get the three following errors:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.icesoft.faces.webapp.parser.ELSetPropertiesRule
at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1340)
----------------------------------------------------------
DEBUG [com.icesoft.faces.webapp.parser.XhtmlTag.<clinit>()] - No JSF 1.2 classes found. Running in JSF 1.1 environment
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentClassicTagBase
at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1340)
----------------------------------------------------------
ERROR [com.icesoft.faces.facelets.D2DFaceletViewHandler.a()] - Error renderResponse. Component property class is not writable
ERROR [com.icesoft.faces.context.DOMResponseWriter.writeDOM()] - ICEfaces requires the Persistent Faces Servlet. Please check your web.xml servlet mappings
----------------------------------------------------------

For the first two errors, I can't find any jar file in the distribution that contains these classes.

Any ideas on how to resolve these errors?
Dear, Deryk.

I cannot work with Component Showcase. I've tested it either from demo.icesoft.com and from my worn site. I'm using Sun RI, Sun Application Server 8.1.
In either case I cannot get response when I click on any link in the compoennt tree. My JavaScript console in FF shows this

Error: Unknown property 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://demo.icesoft.com/component-showcase/#
Line: 0
Error: Unknown property 'behavior'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://www.icesoft.com/icesoft.css
Line: 362
Error: Error in parsing value for property 'border'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://www.icesoft.com/icesoft.css
Line: 349

Maybe it would be useful. The last error message varying with some other property name: 'cursor' and 'scrollbar-...'
Maybe the reason can be in my set of installed extensions.

How does ICEfaces support browser?
It doesn't work properly in Opera 9. Only after refreshing the page I can get the required action.
It doesn't work at all in FireFox 1.5.0.2.
What can I do to get ICEfaces working in FF and Opera?
Hi all,

Seems ICEfaces Community Edition is not so good, because it generate crappy HTML code. I have checked demo URL (http://demo.icesoft.com/auctionMonitor/) in w3c html validator (http://validator.w3.org) and got more than 160 errors!!!

Anybody know, is it the same problem with Enterprise Edition?
